At RATIO, we don't just design spaces; we invest in our people through continuous learning, EDI initiatives, and a robust corporate wellness program.

Role

This role is designed for a professional ready to bridge the gap between technical execution and design leadership. You will support project teams through design exploration, technical documentation, and the execution of interior environments while maintaining a high level of independence. Consistent with our internal competencies, you will be expected to take full ownership of assigned tasks, performing rigorous self-audits and quality control checks as a prerequisite for excellence.

Responsibilities

    Design & Creative Development
  • Develop spatial design options and translate concepts into diagrams, finish studies, and refined presentations.
  • Produce interior narratives, precedent packages, finish palettes, and FF&E concepts that communicate design intent to clients.
  • Incorporate design feedback efficiently while refining interior elements within established project directions.

  • Technical Development & Documentation

  • Produce coordinated interior documentation sets (plans, elevations, details, and schedules) with moderate to high independence.
  • Utilize Revit to model system and loadable families while maintaining RATIO standards for model organization.
  • Perform preliminary code and ADA checks, ensuring all documentation aligns with project design direction and safety frameworks.
  • Develop and offer technical solutions for interior details with guidance from project leaders.

  • Project Coordination & Execution

  • Manage assigned tasks independently, keeping project leaders apprised of status and deadlines.
  • Coordinate with architects, consultants, and vendors to obtain pricing, cutsheets, and technical data.
  • Organize lighting, finish, and FF&E information, ensuring consistency across entire documentation sets.

  • Collaboration & Growth

  • Demonstrate a "growth mindset" by participating in firm training and skill development.
  • Provide informal mentorship to Graduate-level peers, sharing knowledge and supporting the onboarding of new team members.
  • Show initiative in improving workflows and adopting new design tools (Rhino, Dynamo, etc.).

Qualifications

  • Accredited degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture.
  • 5 or more years of professional experience in an architectural/interior design setting.
  • Advanced skills in Revit (required), Enscape, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator). Experience with Rhino, Dynamo, or Grasshopper is highly ideal.
  • NCIDQ Certification is required for advancement beyond the Graduate level at RATIO. LEED or WELL accreditation is a significant plus.
  • Strong understanding of furniture systems, interior materials, building codes (ADA/Egress), and detailing fundamentals.
  • A self-motivated professional who exhibits curiosity, takes initiative, and possesses strong organizational and communication skills.
