About the Opportunity
The Broadcast Network Specialist provides networking support for the broadcast transmission network and the Field Operations team. This includes supporting WAN infrastructure and supporting microwave and fiber connectivity.

This position will work onsite five days per week at PBS North Carolina located in Research Triangle Park, NC. UNC System employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a 2-hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

About the Team
PBS North Carolina's Technology Division is responsible for the operations and maintenance of the statewide broadcast network in addition to studio production infrastructure, information technology, and facilities.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Skills
Associate's degree in electronics and four years of progressive experience in a broadcast television, radio and emerging media engineering environment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Competencies
Knowledge of Cisco IOS.
Some statewide travel as needed.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills
Working knowledge of electronic, and/or RF, analog/digital principles, techniques and equipment as it applies to a wide variety of operational areas. Ability to apply and adapt this knowledge in unique situations as projects demand. *Ability to determine appropriate direction in solving complex and/or unique problems or issues. *Ability to effectively direct team members of multiple units and organizational areas, and to balance and respond to competing needs. *Ability to select and effectively convey technical information and concepts verbally and in writing when working with team members, management, clients and the public. *Ability to work independently and to apply judgment in developing, organizing and managing plans and complex projects.
