Automatic Transmissions Torque Converter Design Engineer

The Design Engineer for automatic transmission torque converters is responsible for specifying and releasing automatic transmission components including torque converter mechanical component and requirements. The candidate will work in within the Propulsion Systems COE (council of excellence for torque converter assemblies and components (hydraulic performance, damper design and NVH performance, mechanical design and release of components etc....)

Responsibilities:



  • Design and release responsible for key components for torque converter components and assemblies


  • Lead and ensure key components design best practices, lessons learned, and continuous improvements are followed and integrated into product design release process


  • Lead technical infrastructure lead for key components, documentation, specifications, requirements definitions and drawing signoffs for key supplier and tier 1,2,3 components


  • Lead and support warranty and quality related topics


Basic Qualifications:



  • A minimum of a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree field


  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in propulsion systems, automatic transmissions or related field


  • 8 years experience with design and release of torque converter assemblies, torque converter dampers and components


  • Demonstrate significant virtual analysis and CAE design experience


  • Understanding of system engineering within automatic transmissions and electric drives.


  • Strong interpersonal communication and team leadership skills and comfortable with presenting to executive leadership teams



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Masters Degree in Engineering
  • Experience with torque converter components, hydraulic performance and damper design Advanced degree in with emphasis in mechanical engineering or similar


  • Working level experience with suppliers of torque converters, dampers and automatic transmission components


  • Greenbelt or Blackbelt certification
