The Department of Libraries at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Temporary Part-Time Archives Processing Assistant. About the Opportunity The Archives Processing Assistant, Environmental Collections, is responsible for the proper handling of collections vital to the library system by arranging and describing archival collections in the appropriate historical context and according to professional standards and best practices and contributing to digital archival stewardship as needed. The incumbent reports to the WVRHC Head of Archives & Manuscripts. What You'll Do Management of archival collections: Responsible for evaluating rare and one-of-a-kind archival collections and determining how best to organize and preserve those materials with a specialization in environmental collections. Must be aware of and follow guidelines and best practices for handling unique historical materials to ensure that the items are not damaged and are able to be retrieved either digitally or in print format for research purposes. Pay Grade: 12 Work Hours: 20 hours per week; 9am-5pm or 8:30am-4:30pm Length of Assignment: Approximately 8.5 Months Qualifications
