Description

The School of Natural Resources and the Environment Department is currently accepting applications for a Temporary Research Program Support Assistant. Assistance with research project administration with NOAA Office of National Marine Sanctuaries, and the MasBio project management. New research projects can come with the development of different research proposals.

What You'll Do

Responsibilities are functional in nature and performed under direct supervision. Specific tasks include, but are not limited to:

Potential Administrative work & functions in WVU Percival Hall (or Hybrid):

  1. Ability to work independently on research program tasks without direct supervision at all times.
  2. Prepare documents for research proposal and reporting submissions.
  3. Facilitate communication with research faculty and staff across multiple organizations and platforms.
  4. Assist with preparation of travel plans and arrangements for research purposes.
  5. Organize and schedule meetings, administer calendar functions and clarification.
  6. Assist with MyExpenses across research projects and senior faculty, a system used for employee reimbursements for travel expenses and reconciling WVU PCard charges.
  7. Helping with duties related to the production of academic journals.
  8. Assist with research activities such as data entry and data analysis from multiple perspectives.
  9. Meeting regularly with supervisor(s) to discuss research assignments.
  10. Other emergent research duties following new proposal development and award initiation as assigned.

Pay Grade: 12
Length of Assignment: 8.5 Months
Work Hours: 37.5 Hours per week

Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in a related field.
  • Bachelor's Degree or four-year Degree from institution of higher education preferred
  • A minimum of six months of experience involving:
    • Administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology
    • Systems analysis, including determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations and the environment will affect outcomes.
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.
