Position Overview




Essential Job Duties
Dr. Wentao Tang's research group is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to advance the research activities at the interface of optimization (mathematical programming), systems and control theory, and machine learning.
The primary focus of this postdoc position is to carry out fundamental scientific research and produce publishable results, which can be used as a foothold for long-term research directions and sustained funding opportunities. Based on the research outcomes, the postdoc will write scientific papers, compose proposals, provide mentoring and intellectual support to Ph.D. researchers, and perform relevant academic activities.

The duties and responsibilities include:

  • Reading and reviewing the existing literature.
  • Developing theoretical proofs, methodologies, algorithms, and computer nodes.
  • Carrying out numerical computations on desktop computers and high-performance node clusters.
  • Composing papers, technical reports, presentations, and teaching materials.
  • Writing grant proposals and providing intellectual support to graduate and undergraduate researchers in the PI's group.

Other Work/Responsibilities
Occasionally, the PI may request the postdoc to help with course building and supplementary lectures.
