The Student Affairs Office at the University of Virginia School of Law seeks a Director of Student Affairs. Student Affairs is charged with providing support to J.D. and LL.M. students and enhancing the overall student experience, while contributing to the professional development of law students as they prepare to enter the legal profession. Student Affairs provides programming that promotes student academic success, wellness and community in all phases of the student life-cycle, beginning with pre-orientation programming through graduation. Student Affairs has responsibility for the Community Fellows Program and also provides support for student organizations and guidance for student organization sponsored events. In addition, the Office provides one-on-one counseling to J.D. and LL.M. students experiencing academic, professional and/or personal difficulties. Student Affairs works closely with other student services offices at the Law School as well as with University offices in other departments. The Director of Student Affairs reports to and works closely with the Senior Assistant Dean for Student Affairs. The Director will be responsible for a range of individual and group programming and services that support students' academic, personal and professional growth and readiness for entry into the legal profession. The Director will also be expected to assist with incoming student orientation and with graduation. A J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and five or more years' legal and/or higher education student services experience is required. The successful candidate will have excellent communication, strategic, and problem-solving skills, and be interested in promoting the professional development of new members of the legal profession. This position requires most work to be performed in person at the Law School, with the opportunity to perform a limited amount of work remotely in accordance with Law School policy.
