Overview

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Education Specialist to support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of educational programs and curriculum initiatives. This role is responsible for creating high-quality learning experiences, using ViaPath's digital education platforms aligning curriculum with academic standards, reentry outcomes, and agency goals, and providing guidance to facility educators and stakeholders to improve learner outcomes.

This is a remote based position within the Contiguous US with a requirement to travel up to 40% of the time.



Responsibilities

    Curriculum Development & Instructional Support
    • Work with stakeholders on the design, development, and revision of curriculum, instructional materials, and learning resources for justice-impacted adult learners across correctional settings. Ensure curriculum aligns with nationwide standards, accreditation requirements, and organizational program goals.
    • Create assessments, pacing guides, and instructional tools to measure learner progress and support achievement including
      • Academic Foundational Skills (GED/Hiset Prep, literacy, numeracy)
      • CTE and vocational tracks
      • Reentry Life Skills
    • Research and apply best practices in adult education, learning, and curriculum design.
    • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and subject matter experts to improve instructional effectiveness and ensure compliance for optimization for both connected and offline delivery environments
  • Program Management
    • Support the implementation and evaluation of educational programs and initiatives across a portfolio of correctional facility partners.
    • Manage and troubleshoot LMS platforms including course assignments, learner progress tracking and utilization reporting.
    • Manage multiple curriculum and program projects across facilities while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
    • Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and records related to curriculum and program activities.
  • Training & Professional Development
    • Facilitate live and recorded platform trainings, workshops, training sessions, and professional development for correctional education staff, instructors, and facility administrators
    • Provide coaching and guidance on platform use, curriculum implementation, instructional strategies, and learner engagement in secure environments
    • Develop training materials and resources to support staff onboarding, consistency in program delivery, and adoption of educational tools.
    • Represent Education Team at industry conferences.
  • Collaboration & Compliance
    • Partner cross-functionality to drive product integration of educational products across tablet environments. Ensure compliance with educational policies, regulations, and reporting requirements.
    • Participate in strategic planning and continuous improvement efforts.
    • Build and Maintain relationships with facility education directors, reentry coordinators, state agency administrators and content vendors.
    • Capture and Synthesize learner and staff feedback to inform product and content roadmap decisions.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Instructional Design, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in curriculum development, instructional design, education, or program management that has an educational/curriculum development focus.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and/or categorizing curriculum, assessments, and instructional resources.
  • Strong understanding of instructional best practices and learner-centered strategies.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities; ability to manage multiple accounts and deliverables simultaneously
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and education-related technology tools.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% of the time to correctional facilities, agency offices, and industry events.
  • Working knowledge of LMS platforms and digital learning environments; experience with Blackboard Learn, Moodle, or similar systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with international education and credentials to support programming for foreign-national incarcerated individuals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree preferred in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Instructional Design, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
  • Experience in K-12, higher education, corporate training, or nonprofit educational settings.
  • Knowledge of accreditation, compliance, or standards-based curriculum processes.
  • Experience analyzing data to drive instructional and program improvements.
  • Knowledge of SCORM and offline-first digital learning design principles.
  • Familiarity with correctional facility operations, including JMS systems, and program frameworks.
