The Sr. Director of Enterprise Architecture leads the program and organization to develop, maintain, govern, and continuously evolve the Enterprise Architecture (EA) across DaVita in alignment with modern industry standards and consulting best practices (e.g., Gartner). This role oversees all aspects of the EA process, including business alignment, future-state planning, and roadmap development that drives modernization and optimization through innovation. As a key evangelist for the EA discipline, this leader will drive the adoption of secure, standard, and interoperable platforms to support strategic business goals. Furthermore, this role acts as a catalyst to modernize legacy thinking by incorporating AI and agentic paradigms, overseeing architecture governance, and proactively bringing solution architects and tech leaders together to build an architectural runway that improves speed to value while systematically reducing technical debt. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
EA Strategy, Roadmap & Modernization: Lead the continuous evolution and refresh of the EA program, frameworks, and policies. Develop and maintain Cross-Product Line (PL) Current and Future-State EA, Reference Architecture, and Roadmaps that drive modernization and IT portfolio optimization. Analyze the current business and IT environment to detect critical deficiencies, modernizing legacy thinking by championing AI, machine learning, and agentic workflows. Architecture Governance, Standards & Evangelism: Lead, facilitate, and evangelize the creation of governing principles and the EA discipline across the enterprise. Provide clarity on the use of enterprise capabilities to drive secure, standard, and interoperable platforms. Set Technology and Product Line Standards, promote standards adherence, and ensure an optimal, agile governance structure that aligns with modern best practices. Solution Design, Vendor & Technology Assessment: Oversee new technology introductions, product selection processes, and vendor assessments. Provide and review Solution Designs to ensure alignment with secure, interoperable, and AI-forward architectural standards. Community of Practice & Architectural Runway: Proactively bring together Solution Architects and technology leaders to drive a robust Community of Practice (CoP). Foster the adoption of EA standards and collaborate across teams to build an architectural runway that improves speed to value while actively reducing technical debt. Business Alignment, Platform Ecosystem & Integration: Support Digital Strategy, Innovation, and Business Transformation. Map the customer journey and support the IT Strategic Plan. Demonstrate the leadership ability to think broadly about how internal and external capabilities come together to create a platform that enables seamless integration with external entities. Support integration strategy (e.g., APIs) and drive safe, relevant data exchanges that improve stakeholder experiences through richer insights. Manage Information Architecture and ensure IT investments directly enable business outcomes. Other Duties as Assigned
Education and Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field required. Master's degree or relevant EA certifications (e.g., TOGAF, Gartner EA certification) preferred. Experience: Minimum of 15 years of experience in Information Technology, with at least 10 years in senior leadership roles shaping enterprise architecture, technology strategy and execution. Technical & AI Expertise: Experience leading IT transformation through the implementation of modern IT architectures, including cloud-native applications, enterprise security, integration platforms, and event-driven architecture. Demonstrated experience in modernizing legacy environments and integrating AI, agentic workflows, and emerging technologies. EA Frameworks & Leadership: Deep understanding of modern EA frameworks and best practices. Proven track record of establishing architectural Communities of Practice (CoP) and building architectural runways to balance innovation with technical debt reduction. Industry Knowledge: Healthcare IT experience is highly preferred. Business Acumen: Strong knowledge of financial models, budgeting, and the ability to estimate the financial impact of EA alternatives, communicating ROI and translating business needs into actionable, standard, and secure EA requirements.

Travel and Time Requirements: As needed (up to 25%) Language Skills: Fluent in the written and verbal skills necessary to successfully perform the essential functions, duties, and responsibilities of the position. However, in general, the position requires the following activities: Ability to lift minimum of 5 lbs to a max of 50 lbs unassisted and able to stand, sit, stoop, walk, stretch, reach, and use full range of body motions. Manual dexterity as required for specific equipment and ability to use computer keyboard and peripherals.

The Salary Range for the role is $148,000.00 - $234,000.00/year.
If a candidate is hired, they will be paid at least the minimum wage according to their geographical jurisdiction and the exemption status for the position.
New York Exempt: New York City and Long Island: $66,300.00/year, Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester counties: $66,300.00/year, Remainder of New York state: $62,353.20/year New York Non-exempt: New York City and Long Island: $17.00/hour, Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester counties: $17.00/hour, Remainder of New York state: $16.00/hour
Washington Exempt: $80,168.40/year Washington Non-exempt: Bellingham: $19.13/hour, Burien: $21.63/hour, Everette: $20.77/hour, Unincorporated King County: $20.82/hour, Renton: $21.57/hour, Seattle: $21.30/hour, Tukwila: $21.65/hour, Remainder of Washington state: $17.13/hour
