OFFICIAL JOB TITLE: Tutor Mentor DIVISION: Academic Student Affairs DEPARTMENT: Upward Bound BARGAINING UNIT STATUS/SALARY: Temporary, non-benefited SALARY: $18.00/hr plus free room and board SCHEDULE: Mon., Tue., Thur. 2 pm -10 pm, Wed. 10 am -10 pm, Fri. 2-3:30 REPORTS TO: Director, Program Coordinator, Residential Supervisor, and Assistant Residential Supervisor SUMMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: To provide tutoring; student programming, as needed serve as classroom instructional aid; and supervise a residential suite of Female or Male high school students. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The Upward Bound Tutor Mentor must be a sophomore or higher in college and must demonstrate a mastery of the subject area in which he or she is designated to tutor. The Tutor Mentor must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.7 or above. It is required that he/she exhibits sensitivity toward Upward Bound participants. The tutor Mentor must have experience working with low-income and first-generation youth. It is preferred that Tutor Mentors have experience in peer tutoring, mentoring, and demonstrate a potential for leadership with low-income and first-generation high school students.
Seeking 3 females and 2 males for live-in positions for 6 weeks starting June 21, 2026 - August 4, 2026. A key component is tutoring in English/Math/Science, mentoring, planning activities and supervising a group of high school students in a residential setting. The first week of employment will consist of training. Room and Board are provided free for the duration of employment. Staff will provide their meals on weekends. These are live-in positions for 7 weeks - June 21, 2026 - August 4, 2026 (free room and board will be provided). KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
