What to Expect
Our products demand state-of-the-art performance, and reliability in the field starts with how we build, diagnose, and repair them. This role is focused on hands-on repair of the Optimus humanoid robot hand. You will perform complex repairs, troubleshoot failures, contribute to repair procedures and documentation, and collaborate cross-functionally to support high-quality, efficient repairs and continuous improvement for the program. The ideal candidate combines strong mechanical and electrical repair skills with clear communication, disciplined documentation habits, and a collaborative working style.
What You'll Do
- Perform complex repairs across Optimus robot hands (electrical, mechanical, and electromechanical assemblies)
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex failures using systematic diagnostic workflows and structured documentation
- Follow established repair procedures; contribute updates to work instructions and the repair documentation library for common and emerging failure modes
- Collaborate with engineering on design changes, root cause analysis (RCA), and feedback on recurring issues and manufacturability
- Track repair data, capture lessons learned, and contribute to reports on throughput, yield, and failure trends
- Maintain repair tools and equipment; adhere to lab safety protocols and organization standards
- Partner with technicians and engineering to diagnose difficult cases and share technical findings
What You'll Bring
- 3+ years of hands-on repair experience in manufacturing, robotics, automotive, aerospace, medical equipment, or a similarly regulated/high-complexity environment
- Strong mechanical and electrical repair skills: disassembly, component replacement, reassembly, and verification of complex electromechanical systems
- Strong manual dexterity for precision work (for example, PCB rework and small-component handling)
- Hands-on use of diagnostic equipment (for example, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and signal generators, as applicable). Solid understanding of power systems, motor controls, sensors, actuators, and common communication interfaces (for example, CAN and Ethernet)
- Excellent communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts clearly to engineering and technician peers. Strong technical writing skills for procedures and work instructions. Ability to read and apply schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced lab environment and communicate technical status and blockers clearly. Positive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to adapt quickly and reprioritize under ambiguity. Strong ownership and accountability for repair quality, documentation, and handoff of technical status
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar tools for issue tracking, documentation, and knowledge management preferred. Direct experience with robotic systems, mechatronics, or precision electromechanical assemblies preferred. Familiarity with Python, Linux or scripting for diagnostics, data capture, or repair workflow automation preferred
