ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join our technical team at SES's Itasca warehouse. This role offers hands-on experience supporting manufacturing processes, improving efficiency, and working alongside the Production Engineering team in a fast-paced operational environment. The individual hired for this role will gain exposure to real-world engineering challenges and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the company.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS

  • Assist in analyzing and improving manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, quality, and safety
  • Support continuous improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles
  • Help develop and update work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process documentation
  • Participate in time studies and workflow optimization
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to troubleshoot manufacturing issues
  • Collect and analyze production and inspection data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • Support implementation of new equipment or process changes on the production floor

COMPETENCIES

  • Exposure to Six Sigma or continuous improvement methodologies
  • Experience with data analysis or process mapping

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering principles
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing concepts is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a hands-on, shop-floor environment
