Intern Satellite Platform Engineering

ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Satellite Engineering Intern to join our Space Systems team for the summer. This internship provides hands-on experience developing and testing satellite procedures for routine and contingency operations as well as analysis of satellite subsystems, working alongside experienced engineers on real-world aerospace projects.

You will apply your engineering and programming knowledge to the development, and implementation of satellite operations procedures. These products will be used throughout the spacecraft lifecycle: from design review, operations integration and handover to long-term operations and decommissioning.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS

  • Create and improve satellite operations procedures using python-based tools, manufacturer's documentation and operations protocol.
  • Improve python-based tools and processes with a focus on task automation and batch processing.
  • Apply satellite command and control best practices to develop robust and efficient procedures.
  • Audit existing procedures and evaluate the need to improve automation.
  • Validate procedures using satellite simulators and manufacturer documentation.
  • Document the whole process for others to be able to easily replicate.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline. Preferred: Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Science.
  • Basic understanding of satellite systems and spacecraft engineering principles.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python (preferred), C++, Java, VBA. Additional courses or knowledge in Computer or Data Science are beneficial.
  • Fluency in English (any other language being an asset).
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (VBA experience preferred).

OTHER KEY REQUIREMENTS / COMMENTS

  • Eligible applicants to the US based location must be a US Citizen, a Green Card Holder or who can otherwise meet federal export-control authorization requirements.
  • Willing to work on-site or hybrid remote per allowed policy
