The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Assessment Assistant in the Assessor’s Office. Under general supervision, provides a variety of routine to difficult office support in the preparation of the assessment roll and maintenance of property assessment records and performs related work as assigned. Initially, incumbents learn County and departmental policies and procedures, and state, federal and local laws and regulations related to assessment activities. As experience is gained through experience and demonstrating proficiency incumbents receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit.
The ideal candidate will:
- Detail-oriented and accurate in reviewing, processing, and maintaining property-related documents in compliance with established requirements.
- Proficient in data entry, records management, and preparing correspondence and reports using computer applications.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to effectively communicate procedures, policies, and information to the public in person and by phone.
- Organized and reliable in managing files, mail, and multiple administrative tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Trustworthy and efficient in handling financial transactions, processing payments, exemptions, and permits with accuracy.

Qualifications

The minimum and preferred requirements are listed below. Education and Experience:

MINIMUM: Equivalent to graduation from high school and some general office support experience involving computer applications.

PREFERRED: In addition to the above minimum requirements, one (1) year of office support experience which has involved researching and/or processing documents in accordance with laws, codes, and/or regulations with a public agency.
Licenses and Certification:
- The ability to obtain a valid California Class C driver's license within ten (10) days of employment; maintain throughout employment.
- Typing Certificate: Minimum Net of 40 wpm. Typing Certificate must indicate results from a five (5) minute test with at least the minimum net wpm required.
Special Requirements:
- Must successfully complete an extensive and thorough background investigation which includes Live Scan fingerprinting prior to hire.
- Will be required to perform disaster service activities pursuant to Government Code 3100-3109.
Salary/Compensation: $3,391 - $3,731 per month
