Bioinformatics Support II - Genomic Data & Pipeline Analyst

The Bioinformatics Support II role provides advanced scientific and analytical support to CDC genomic surveillance programs. This position serves as a bridge between laboratory science and computational analysis, supporting the execution of genomic surveillance pipelines and analysis of sequencing data to inform public health operations.

Compensation & Benefits:

Pay commensurate with experience.

Bioinformatics Support II - Genomic Data & Pipeline Analyst Responsibilities Include:
* Execute and monitor amplicon and metagenomic sequencing pipelines
* Perform QC checks on sequencing data
* Analyze variant trends and lineage assignments
* Generate reports and visualizations
* Maintain reproducible workflows
* Perform QC on sequencing outputs (coverage, lineage, variants)
* Analyze genomic data using tools such as:
* Nextclade
* Freyja
* Minimap2
* Work in Linux/Unix environments
* Develop scripts in Python, R, or Bash
* Maintain reproducible workflows using Nextflow or Snakemake
* Collaborate with lab and epidemiology teams

Bioinformatics Support II - Genomic Data & Pipeline Analyst Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
* Master's or PhD in Bioinformatics, Microbiology, or related field
* Experience with tools: Nextclade, Freyja, Minimap2
* Python/R/Bash proficiency
* Linux/Unix experience
* Strong communication and analytical skills
* Ability to work independently and resolve problems without constant supervision
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
* Must pass the pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
