The company is currently seeking an experienced On Site Safety Coordinator.



Responsibilities

Position Summary/ Primary Purpose

Implement and maintain the established safety Accident Prevention Program for the company and customer. Develop and implement Emergency Response plans; conduct job site safety orientations, project safety meetings; ensure compliance with contractual documents. Work with subcontractors to decrease injuries and increase productivity through established safety methods and interface with the owner over safety issues. Conduct and review various Pre-task Plans of construction/installation activities. Support efforts associated with the recognition, evaluation, and control of occupational hazards in the workplace that may cause sickness, impaired health, or injury among the workforce. Provide guidance to Project Management and Subcontractors as required at the various installation projects. Responsible for maintaining, recordkeeping and compliance with all safety requirements as required or requested by customer site. Work with company and customer's Risk Management Loss Control Insurance Representative as required.

On-site Safety Coordinator is responsible for the management of the overall safety and health of field employees at project sites, including the following:

    Works with the project management team to evaluate and drive the work from a safety-focused approach;
  • Regularly monitors employees for safe work practices, advising and correcting work methods when needed
  • Assists in the preparation of Construction project safety plan
  • Conducts daily safety briefings, project safety audits and inspections, including required reports and record-keeping;
  • Conducts, or coordinates as needed, all project Safety training onsite, including new hire orientation, fall protection, confined space, lead training and lockout / tag-out.
  • Tracks all training records, and maintains updated list of certifications held by personnel onsite to ensure proper training is received in advance;
  • Conducts Industrial Hygiene assessments of work processes and employees
  • Leads accident/incident investigations in a timely manner and oversees report development


Qualifications

Qualifications/Education:

  • 3+ years of construction experience, bridge or marine work preferred.
  • Four year Degree in Safety, Safety Management or Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, or experience equivalent
  • Knowledge of FRA, DOT and OSHA regulations
  • OSHA instructor, CPR / First-Aid trained, preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to thrive in a changing environment
  • Self-driven and capable of working with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work on active construction site outdoors in a variety of climates
  • Travel is required
  • Salary commensurate with experience

  • Climb ladders and work at heights
