Registered Nurse RN

***FULL TIME BONUS of $5,000***

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Psychiatric Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality care to patients with mental health conditions, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being. This role involves working closely with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement effective treatment plans tailored to individual needs.

The Psychiatric/Mental Health Registered Nurse provides comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care to individuals across the lifespan experiencing acute and chronic mental health and substance use disorders. This role integrates psychiatric nursing theory, evidence-based practice, and regulatory standards to assess patient needs, develop and implement individualized treatment plans, and evaluate patient progress. The nurse functions as a clinical caregiver, patient advocate, educator, and interdisciplinary team member while maintaining a safe, therapeutic milieu.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Maintains and applies standards of care for patients with medical, surgical, and psychiatric comorbidities.
    Implements psychiatric and physician orders in a timely, clinically effective manner.
  • Observes and reports changes in mental/physical status, behavior, appearance, and functioning.
  • Assesses risk factors for violence and documents appropriately.
  • Manages and monitors suicidal patients with appropriate observation, reassessment, and documentation.
  • Manages, monitors, and provides care for patients at risk for elopement.
  • Provides therapeutic 1:1 interactions to support stabilization and treatment goals.
  • Facilitates psychoeducational and therapeutic groups.
  • Provides structured counseling and ensures required out of cell time (e.g., 2 hours/day for Level II patients).
  • Uses early intervention strategies to prevent escalation.
  • Demonstrates skill in verbal de-escalation and crisis stabilization.
  • Responds to Behavioral Codes and applies restraints safely and in policy alignment.
  • Documents incidents, assessments, interventions, and clinical outcomes in the medical record.
  • Coordinates psychiatric services and communicates medication compliance, status changes, and lab results to psychiatrists.
    Collaborates with Health Services, emergency medical teams, and administrative staff.
    Provides patient/family education and supports discharge planning.

Qualifications

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Must be available for rotating holiday & weekend shifts
  • Current RN license in good standing in Ohio or in another state that participates in the Nurse Licensure multi-state license required.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association preferred.
