Summary/Objective

This is an entry level intern position. The ideal candidate can generate process documentation (ie work instructions, forms), complete time studies, and conduct continuous improvement projects. The intern works with independence, and work is reviewed for content and accuracy upon completion. Performs specific tasks with minimal supervision.

Essential Functions

  1. Learn the assigned production processes, and complete standard operating procedures accordingly.
  2. Complete time studies of assigned processes and analyze further for continuous improvement.
  3. Initiate continuous improvement projects and track the financial impact of these improvements through completion.
  4. Assist manufacturing personnel with information regarding design or process changes.
  5. Use DraftSight and SolidWorks to design manufacturing tools and improvements; work with production to fabricate these as needed
  6. Complete other projects as assigned.

  3. Must be able to read and process written communication including, but not limited to measurements, directions, instructions, etc.

  6. Must be able to work under physically and mentally stressful situations;
  7. Must be able to prioritize and easily adapt to changes through the day.

Supervisory Responsibility

This role does not have any supervisory responsibility upon hiring.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. May be required to lift items up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time intern position, and the expected work hours are 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday; weekend and overnight work could also become necessary.

Travel

Minimal local travel.

Required Education and Experience

  1. High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. Some technical education specific to CAD, associate degree or equivalent, or 1-3 years of modeling/drafting experience with Solidworks or other 3D modeling software.
  3. Must be able to rapidly transition between projects as priorities change.
  4. Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills to interface with all levels of personnel.

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Manufacturing/industry experience.
  2. Welding and metal fabrication knowledge.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance:

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
