Position Summary: The Material Handler II is responsible for efficiently and effectively processing and moving finished products and materials throughout the organization. This is a mid-level position, gaining experience within the Shipping and Receiving department, typically requiring 1+ years of previous material handling experience. A willingness to learn new tasks and be cross trained for other job tasks is a requirement. The Material Handler II shows the ability to manage multiple priorities and make decisions for the best course of action. This position begins to show a level of comfort speaking to different levels of leadership and other business units. System transactions are routine in this role, and this individual should be able to train others, is comfortable coordinating different warehouse specific tasks, and interacts with warehouse and sales systems. The Material Handler II works with minimal supervision and in a team environment and collaborates with internal Sales team members, Security, Facilities management, other business units, and leadership, as needed to accomplish assigned tasks.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Use Oracle and CoreSTORE system transactions to receive SIG SAUER and vendor shipments/POs, query materials, SKUs, and UPCs, enter cycle counts, transact inter-orgs and transfers, and perform system transactions by moving, adding, and removing inventory.
  • Develop a solid base knowledge of the warehouse bin structure and store floor layout to quickly assist in locating products.
  • Process outbound shipments through the FedEx hub. Ship serialized product through CoreSTORE following all prescribed SOPs.
  • Safely operate pallet jacks, use stairs and steps to access storage locations and transport product.
  • Show attention to detail in all aspects of the job to ensure inventory is organized, structured and accurate. Perform system transactions in CoreSTORE and Oracle to move, add, and remove inventory.
  • Independently, and in team environment, accurately pick work and sales orders, fulfill requests, put away materials, and ensure material is delivered to proper locations in a timely manner and accurate transactions are completed. Assist with identifying and correcting discrepancies in inventory.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and identify and report potential hazards to supervisor.
  • Show steady improvement learning new tasks. Read and comprehend Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and apply new knowledge to assigned tasks. Develop an eye for quality and accuracy, ability to recognize process failures and ask clarifying questions.
  • Seek to deliver perfect quality service to internal customers while ensuring system transactions are completed timely and accurately. Learn new, more complex tasks that also come with a higher level of impact/risk to store operations and success.
  • Understand operational issues that could impact store operations and the customer experience.
  • Understand the basic layout of store displays and how to ensure proper inventory levels while maintaining visual appeal.
  • Work with training kits to provide adequate backup supporting remote course requirements.
  • Train Material Handler level Is in shipping and receiving processes.
  • Demonstrate potential ability to lead others and develop efficient processes to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Engage in and actively volunteer for Continuous Improvement projects/tasks.
  • Communicate effectively to supervision regarding problems. Able to offer solutions to common problems. Demonstrates critical-thinking skills and good judgement.
  • Participate in and sustain 5S Standards.
  • Must follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.
  • Regular on-site attendance and punctuality is a necessary function of this position.
  • May be required to work in other functional areas and/or facilities depending on business needs.
  • May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.


Education/Experience & Skills:



  • High school diploma or equivalent; or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Typically requires 1+ years of experience.
  • Ability to use manual pallet jack.
  • Powered pallet jack and crown lift certifications.
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Oracle, and CoreSTORE required.
  • Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to others, both verbally and in written form.
  • Capable of completing tasks as assigned in a timely manner. Require little to no supervision to identify additional tasks.


Working Conditions:



  • Regularly perform repetitive tasks.
  • Work is primarily standing (90 + % of the shift) except for lunch and break periods.
  • Shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours.
  • The duties of this job normally require exposure to a typical manufacturing environment. Frequent standing, sitting, stooping, squatting, walking, and stair climbing can be expected along with frequent lifting and/or moving of tooling, parts containers, and materials up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms, bend and kneel frequently at a minimum of 50% of the shift, as well as undergo repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions.
  • Must demonstrate proficient fine motor skills, ability to grip, reach, pull, turn, and use tools to torque fixtures in various machinery or in the assembly, machining, or testing of parts.
  • Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception, and the ability to focus on fine print.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
  • Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. security mandates.
