Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is looking to immediately hire a reliable student to join our team and assist with moving furniture. The successful candidate will be punctual, helpful, and a collaborative worker. Duties primarily involve moving of items, loading and unloading, and assembling or placing items as needed. The successful candidate must feel comfortable with driving a large truck and know how to interact professionally with customers. All of our staff members are expected to use extreme care when handling items and take pride in doing so.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Picks up, delivers, assembles, and moves various items (mainly furniture)
- Safely loads, unloads, and transports items
- Packs and unpacks items as needed
- Tracks inventory through use of computer system
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be enrolled at Utah State University
- Must have a minimum of one year of school remaining
- Must be able to work 20 hours per week during semesters and up to 40 hours per week during summer
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must be a team player
- Must be self-motivated and proactive
- Customer service skills
- Comfortable with using Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., or other U.S. person
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior furniture moving experience
- Experience using various moving tools
- Lifting equipment (dollies, ramps, pallet hacks)
- Hand tools (screwdrivers, wrenches, drill)
- Packing supplies (tape, ropes, straps)
- Detail-oriented
- Ability to communicate clearly with a variety of personnel at different professional levels
- Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner
- Organizational skills
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift heavy items over 50 pounds
- Ability to lift items overhead on a regular basis
- Ability to climb stairs while lifting heavy items over 50 pounds on a regular basis
- May work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
