THE ROLE:

The Product Line Quality (PLQ) Engineer serves as the cross functional leader and end to end owner of product quality at AMD, from early concept through production and field use. This role drives alignment across design, test, reliability, manufacturing, supply chain, and customers, applying sound technical judgment toidentifyrisk, balance quality with cost and schedule, and translate complex data into clear, executive level decisions.

THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate is a technically strong, self driven engineer with deepexpertisein semiconductor product quality, failure analysis, and reliability engineering. They have hands on experience with silicon, package, system, and field debug; test and screening methodologies, and data driven quality analysis such as DPPM, yield, and risk modeling. An effective communicator with strong attention to detail, they work independently, take ownership of complex technical challenges, and proactively drive problems to closure while continuously seeking process and product improvements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • End to EndProduct Quality Ownership:Own quality strategy and execution across the full product lifecycle-frompre-concept and NPI through production and field support.
    • Failure Analysis & Root Cause: Drivesilicon, package, system, and field failure analysis drivingcross functionalroot cause, containment, and closure.
    • Test & Screening Strategy:Partner withPackaging andTest Engineering to ensure robusttestcoverage, effective screening, anddata driven guard bandingbased on risk and DPPM trends.
    • Reliability & Qualification:Define and drive product qualification, FMEA/DFMEA risk mitigation, andreliability basedlife modeling.
    • Data DrivenQuality:Perform DPPM modeling, yield analysis, DOE, andcross domaindata correlation to supportproduct gateand executive decisions.
    • Manufacturing & Supply Chain Quality:Lead manufacturing, supplier, andcomponentquality initiatives,changemanagement, supplier qualification, and quality governance.
    • Customer Quality Support: Interface betweencustomer facingCustomer Quality Engineering and the internalmanufacturingteam.
    • System & Platform Quality:Drive system andplatform levelquality readiness, integrating silicon, validation, and field data to mitigate scaling and interaction risks.
    • Digital & Analytics Enablement:Build dashboards and executive reports using modern analytics tools; apply advanced screening andoutlier detectiontechniques to reduce escapes.
    • Leadership & Influence:Translate complex technical data into clear executive narratives, influencecross functionalteams without authority, and balance quality, cost, andtime to market.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working in semi-conductoror electronics in either quality,reliability,productdevelopment engineering role.
  • Experience with application hardware design, semiconductor packaging, FPGA, CPU/GPU or ARM technology, and markets such as datacenter, automotive and aerospacea plus.
  • Exceptionaland well-developed time andproject management skills
  • Knowledgeonadopting and applying Artificial Intelligence methods and practices intowork flows. TrainingonArtificial Intelligence isan advantage.
  • Excel technical and executive-level presentationsand communication skillsusing modern tools likePowerpoint,PowerBI,charts and graphs etc.
  • Demonstrate strong statistical dataanalysis acumen. Proficiencyin Mini-Tab or JMPisdesired.
  • Strong understanding ofcomponent- and system-level test methodologies as well asfailure analysis techniques for silicon components.
  • Intermediate programming skillseither with object-oriented or scripting languages.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Mastersof ScienceinAppliedSciences/Material Science/Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.
