Job Overview:

The Manager supports the efforts of the Infection Prevention & Control Department.The Infection Prevention Manager is responsible for the identification and implementation of infection prevention goals and objectives of Infection Prevention Plan of the hospital in compliance with all applicable policies, laws and regulations.

Qualification

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Public Health, or related field required, or equivalent experience
  • Certification in Infection Prevention CIC required
  • 5 to 10 years clinical experience in an acute care facility, and/or two years of experience in Infection Control
  • Supervisory experience desirable
  • Knowledgeable of OSHA, APIC and CDC regulations and guidelines,
  • Must be knowledgeable of infection prevention and control principles, practices, and procedures as evidenced by certification

Essential Functions:

  • The Manager works in collaboration with the medical and nursing teams, and other stakeholders to develop a program that promotes sound and scientific infection prevention principles and practices,
  • Develops policies governing control of infections and communicable diseases,
  • Implements policies governing control of infections and communicable diseases,
  • Conducts surveillance through identifying, reporting, investigating and controlling infections and communicable diseases,

  • Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • The Infection Prevention Managers supports the oversight of the infection prevention program,
  • The IP Manger ensures that the infection prevention plan of the hospital is in compliance with all applicable policies, laws and regulations,
  • The IP Manager coordinates under the direction of the VP of Quality, Safety and Experience and the chairman of Infectious Disease to ensure compliance with the hospitals infection prevention program,
  • Coordinates hospital wide infection prevention activities related to the strategic initiatives and departmental goals
  • Supports the functions of the infection prevention committee including the annual risk assessment, development of the annual infection prevention plan and annual appraisal,
  • Ensures the Infection Prevention staff are trained in hospital epidemiology principles and responsible for the surveillance, analysis, and reporting of nosocomial infections,
  • Supports the development of policies and procedures to ensure rigorous infection control standards that meet the Joint Commission, OSHA, New Jersey Department of Health, and Center for Disease Control requirements
  • Supports ongoing activities related to the publicly reported CDC National healthcare Safety Network and assists in the implementation of performance improvement initiatives to improve patient care,
  • Provides ongoing formal hospital wide education regarding infection prevention practices and issues,
  • Collaborates with Employee Health and all hospital departments regarding exposure to communicable diseases and coordinates the reporting to regulatory agencies for patients and employees as required,
  • Collaborates with Employee Health to develop annual influenza immunization campaign,
  • Demonstrates the ability to respond positively to changing circumstances, actively decisively and taking effective actions
  • Coaches, mentors and provides continuing education and support to staff to facilitate professional growth
  • Pursues ongoing professional growth and development
