Responsibilities

We are seeking a Product Engineering Technician to support the characterization and failure analysis of advanced RF and microwave integrated circuits. This role is part of the IC Product Engineering team and works closely with product engineers, design, process, package, and test teams to support IC failure analysis, electrical characterization, and packaged product evaluation.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a laboratory environment with a strong interest in semiconductor devices, RF measurements, and IC failure analysis. The successful candidate is eager to learn, enjoys following procedures and working under guidance, and has a natural knack for figuring out what went wrong when a product does not behave as expected. They are comfortable setting up measurements, carefully observing results, checking basics, and asking questions to understand issues, while steadily building practical skills in IC testing, inspection, and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support IC failure analysis (FA) activities, including sample preparation, documentation, and data collection
  • Perform RF and DC electrical measurements and characterization on bare die and packaged ICs
  • Conduct benchtop measurements using RF and electrical lab equipment (e.g., power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers)
  • Support packaged IC testing, data review, and correlation with product engineering requirements
  • Perform X-ray and C-SAM (Scanning Acoustic Microscopy) inspections to identify package-level defects such as voids, delamination, or cracks
  • Execute package decapsulation to enable die-level inspection and analysis
  • Assist with data logging, measurement reports, and presentation of findings to engineers
  • Follow established lab procedures, safety guidelines, and quality systems
  • Maintain test equipment, lab organization, and proper handling of sensitive devices

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical certificate in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
  • Experience with electrical measurements, benchtop test equipment, or semiconductor lab work
  • Familiarity with ICs, semiconductor devices, or electronic components
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow electrical test plans, and make minor modifications or adjustments to test procedures based on engineering direction or test objectives.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and accurately document results
  • Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on lab environment
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with IC failure analysis, product engineering, or reliability labs
  • Exposure to RF measurements and high-frequency test environments
  • Hands-on experience with X-ray, C-SAM, or other non-destructive analysis techniques
  • Familiarity with ESD controls and semiconductor lab practices
  • Prior experience supporting R&D or manufacturing product engineering teams

Soft Skills & Attributes

  • Curious and eager to learn semiconductor technologies
  • Proactive, dependable, and comfortable managing multiple tasks
  • Willingness to take ownership of lab tasks and measurement quality
  • Strong teamwork mindset and openness to feedback
