Department Overview

The Application Development division develops, implements, and supports information technology solutions that are either internally developed or purchased from a third-party vendor. These applications and systems provide solutions to corporate data processing and information needs. The incumbent manages the efforts of direct reports, providing analysis and project management direction, and reviews the applications and systems developed to ensure they meet requirements of the organization. The incumbent works closely with managers and associates throughout the corporation in order to facilitate understanding of their information system needs.

Primary Responsibilities

The incumbent assists in the development of new software applications and the maintenance and support of existing applications to provide information technology solutions for the organization.

The Application System Analyst/Programmer II will support Human Capital Management (HCM) functions by developing, maintaining, and enhancing PeopleSoft applications. This includes implementing new features, executing system improvements, performing configuration adjustments, and troubleshooting issues to ensure optimal system performance. The role involves collaborating with functional teams to deliver technical solutions that align with business requirements and compliance standards.

Summary of Qualifications

  • Do you have a bachelor's degree and 1 year of IT experience; or 2 years programming experience?
  • Experience with programming languages, platforms, and data structures
  • Analytical thinking skills with experience in identifying, scrutinizing, improving, and streamlining complex work processes
  • Experience in identifying, analyzing, and solving business problems to improve work processes
  • Experience applying software development methodologies
  • Demonstrated research, decision-making and judgment skills
  • Experience exercising problem solving skills
  • Experience working independently as well as in a team environment
  • Experience working with others in a professional manner to achieve a common goal
  • Experience communicating effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Experience in a position requiring technical writing, editing and proofreading
  • Experience demonstrating flexibility and adaptability with work processes
  • Experience effectively prioritizing and juggling multiple concurrent projects
  • Experience applying project management and program management preferred
  • Experience and proficiency in SQL, including writing and creating database queries preferred
  • Experience utilizing Java or JavaScript programs preferred
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM) application preferred
  • Experience with Oracle's PeopleTools technology preferred
  • Experience utilizing ColdFusion technology preferred

Work Location

The work schedule for this position will be full time onsite at our corporate headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama.
