Overview

The Senior Internal Communications Specialist (Enterprise AI Strategy) leads strategic internal communications for one of the organization's most visible enterprise priorities. This role is ideal for a highly organized, collaborative communicator with strong executive presence and sound judgement, who can translate complex topics into clear, compelling narratives for employees at all levels.

In this role, you will develop and deliver integrated internal communications strategies that help leaders and employees understand the purpose, progress, and impact of the Enterprise AI Strategy. You will partner closely with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to shape messaging, build alignment, and ensure communications are tailored appropriately for executive, leader, and enterprise-wide audiences, ensuring materials reflect both strategic intent and organizational voice.

The ideal candidate is proactive and consultative, anticipating communications needs and advising on effective approaches and channels. You bring the ability to simplify technical or emerging concepts, maintain consistency and quality across platforms while balancing speed, accuracy, and quality, and operate with a high degree of independence as a trusted communications partner supporting enterprise change.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the planning, development, and execution of internal communications that align with business objectives and enhance employee engagement.
  • Combines strategic insight, content development, and cross-functional collaboration to support key initiatives and organizational change.
  • Leads communication planning and execution for major business initiatives, including the Enterprise AI Strategy, and organizational changes.
  • Analyzes strategic inputs to develop communications that inform internal audiences.
  • Serves as a strategic partner to business leaders, advising on messaging, narrative development, and engagement strategies.
  • Creates, measures, and delivers clear, engaging content across internal channels (e.g., intranet, email, digital signage).
  • Develops messaging frameworks and executive communications for senior leaders.
  • Prepares professional documents using complex writing standards, adapting tone, content, and format for executive, leader, and enterprise-wide audiences.
  • Develops well-organized project plans, drafts timelines, and proactively prioritizes tasks to achieve communication milestones.
  • Leads and manages cross-functional campaigns with measurable outcomes, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Uses the team's content management system and tracking mechanisms to monitor progress.
  • Collects and analyzes communication metrics and employee feedback to inform content strategy and improve effectiveness.
  • Understands business needs and challenges, recommending communication solutions that drive clarity and impact.
  • Explains ideas clearly, offers alternatives, and mentors junior team members.
  • Collaborates across departments and stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging and resource alignment.
  • Works under limited supervision, demonstrating initiative and ownership of complex communication projects.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in communications or related field.
  • Complete knowledge and understanding of business area/specialization.
  • Strong storytelling and messaging skills tailored to diverse employee audiences.
  • Ability to analyze communication effectiveness using metrics and feedback.
  • Experience supporting change management and organizational initiatives.
  • Skilled in stakeholder management and executive communication support.
  • Ability to coach junior team members and provide editorial guidance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field or the equivalent combination of training, education and experience.



Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field or the equivalent combination of training, education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of Navy Federal products, services, programs, policies and procedures and/or prior financial services industry experience.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM
