Job Description

Position Summary:

The Shipping and Receiving Level 1 position is responsible for the accurate handling of incoming and outgoing shipments to ensure timely and efficient operations. This role includes receiving, inspecting, documenting, and transferring shipments within the facility, as well as preparing materials for delivery to customers or vendors. The position requires strong attention to detail, safe work practices, and the ability to operate material-handling equipment while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Unload, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and invoices.
  • Check for damage, shortages, or discrepancies and document findings.
  • Photograph oversized or critical parts and attach images to invoice documentation.
  • Ensure all materials are properly labeled and routed to the appropriate department or storage location.
  • Pick, verify, and prepare outgoing orders to meet production and customer requirements.
  • Wrap, package, and secure materials to prevent damage during transit.
  • Generate shipping labels and documents using carrier systems (UPS, FedEx, LTL, etc.).
  • Load shipments safely and accurately onto trucks for delivery.
  • Transfer raw materials, parts, and finished goods throughout the plant as required.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate counts of materials moved, staged, or stored.
  • Complete all receiving and shipping records accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain organized files of shipping documents, invoices, and receipts.
  • Assist with cycle counts and inventory accuracy initiatives as needed.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards throughout the department and facility.
  • Observe all safety and security procedures; ensure proper use of equipment and materials; actively promote safety and report concerns.
  • Use of the type of PPE required for the particular work task(s).

Required Skills:

  • Must be detail-oriented and a quick learner.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to represent the company in a positive manner.
  • Ability to operate material-handling equipment such as a two-wheeler dolly, forklift, pallet jack, chain pallet puller, slings, and shipping scales.
  • Proficiency with basic computer operations.
  • Strong business math and reading comprehension skills.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods with limited movement.

Level of Education:

  • General standard education.
