Job Summary

We are seeking an entry-level Data Center Technician I to support the installation and maintenance of structured cabling systems within data center environments. This role is ideal for individuals with skilled trade or labor experience who are looking to build a career in the low voltage and telecommunications industry. Technicians will work under the guidance of experienced team members to perform tasks such as cable installation, rack building, and infrastructure support while learning industry standards and safety practices. This position offers hands-on training, mentorship, and a clear path for career advancement.

Job Responsibilities




  • Assist with the installation of copper and fiber cabling according to project specifications and industry standards



  • Pull, route, and label cables while maintaining proper bend radius and support



  • Build and install cable pathways, including ladder racks, basket trays, and J-hooks



  • Support basic termination of copper cabling and assist with fiber terminations



  • Dress and organize cables within racks, cabinets, and patch panels



  • Perform cable management, including dressing and labeling



  • Support rack and stack of equipment and server rack build-outs



  • Install infrastructure components such as fiber trays, ladder racks, cabinets, and cable management systems



  • Assist with material receiving and hardware assembly



  • Read and follow blueprints and installation documentation



  • Follow safety guidelines, including proper use of PPE and maintaining a clean job site



  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors




Job Requirements




  • High school diploma or GED equivalent



  • 0-2 years of experience in data center, structured cabling, low voltage, or construction environments



  • Basic understanding of Cat5e/Cat6 cabling systems



  • Ability to pull, route, and handle copper and fiber cabling



  • Familiarity with hand tools such as snips, drills, fish tape, and punchdown tools



  • Experience using labeling tools is preferred



  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team



  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols



  • Comfortable working in data centers, server rooms, or commercial construction environments



  • Willingness to learn fiber optics, testing procedures, and advanced cabling techniques



  • Physical ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds, and stand for extended periods



  • OSHA 10 certification preferred




Work Experience




  • Experience in construction, low voltage systems, or structured cabling is preferred but not required



  • Exposure to commercial or data center environments is beneficial
