The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Arizona is seeking a part-time Scientific Analyst I to support MRI-based research within the ABRC-funded lung imaging study. The successful candidate will assist in the acquisition of human MRI data and contribute to the development and implementation of data analysis pipelines for image reconstruction and quantitative analysis using Python and MATLAB. The position involves close collaboration with the research team to ensure high-quality data processing and to support preparation of figures, results, and materials for scientific publications. This role provides an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in biomedical engineering or related fields to gain hands-on experience in advanced MRI research and translational imaging applications. The individual will work closely with the research team to ensure high-quality data collection and processing, and to support preparation of results for scientific dissemination. | Duties & Responsibilities |
- Modify pre-existing Python and MATLAB scripts (mathematical programming language/tool) as directed to implement and optimize data analysis pipeline for MRI reconstruction and qualitative analysis.
- Troubleshoot and resolve routine errors in scripts and workflows to ensure adherence to established protocols and data quality standards.
- Organize MRI datasets ensuring data integrity, supporting group-level analysis and enabling automated data processing workflows.
- Document code and data processing steps following the established practices.
- Assist in MRI data acquisition and experimental support.
- Support human MRI studies by assisting with subject preparation, data acquisition, and coordination of imaging sessions.
- Ensure adherence to study protocol and data quality standards.
- Generate figures and plots as requested using established scripts in Python and MATLAB to support data analysis, interpretation, and the preparation of materials for journal publications and conference presentations and reports in collaboration of the research team.

| Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related scientific field.
- Experience with programming in Python and/or MATLAB.
- Prior research experience in biomedical imaging, engineering, or related areas.
