JOB TITLE: Substation Asset Specialist REQUISITION: TRA00ZF DEPARTMENT: Substation Maintenance - Topeka Operations Center, 930 N Olive, Wichita Service Center LOCATION: Topeka, KS Kansas City, MO Wichita, KS PAY RANGE: (Minimum to Midpoint) Substation Asset Specialist I: $54,400 - $68,000 Substation Asset Specialist II: $66,600 - $83,200 Sr Substation Asset Specialist: $84,500 - $112,600 Lead Substation Asset Specialist: $99,500 - $132,600 Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Additional hours as required. Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities: This position will support regulatory compliance and substation reliability by maintaining the substation asset database and other Asset Management job functions as needed. Primary duties include:
- Creating new assets and maintaining existing asset data in the Asset Management system from both Substation C&M and Large Construction projects, with proper nameplate data and related/supporting information, as well as appropriate triggers/PMs for the specific asset/location
- Field verification and data collection from new and energized assets as necessary
- Participate in commissioning/pre-energization walkdowns and updating assets as necessary for design vs as built changes
- Assist in the development, execution, and evolution of facility ratings walkdowns and standards for substation.
- Other, secondary duties as assigned.
- Provide technical consultation services in the areas of reliability, work and materials management, and business administration
- Assist in financial justification of equipment reliability upgrades and improvements
- Assist with field equipment monitor implementation and integration of associated data into equipment health formulas and work management system
- Stay abreast of new technology and recommend implementation based on criticality, cost, and associated risk.
- Monitor and evaluate asset bad actor lists.
- Perform studies on equipment and process failures and present details of the analysis, in report format, to management.
- Develop work process and procedures for the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Clean and maintain CMMS data.
- Learn / use business analytic tools to visualize and manage data for the operations departments.
Education and Experience Requirements: This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 5 years of electric utility experience. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required: * Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and apply information from equipment files, drawings, catalogs, reports, and manuals * High level of proficiency using Cascade, Maximo, Microsoft Office applications; along with strong technical writing skills and keyboarding competency. * Self-starter with excellent organizational and time/priority management skills - work with little supervision. * Ability to handle multiple priorities in a highly demanding team atmosphere * Excellent interpersonal skills - the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other personnel including peers, managers, customers, contractors, and other contacts * The preferred candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of Substation and Relay equipment and operation Licenses, Certifications, Bonding and/or Testing Required: Must possess a valid driver's license. Working Conditions: Primarily office work, with substation field work as necessary to perform described job functions. Travel to other locations within the company is required. Position may require work beyond normal working hours depending on workload, project deadlines, and service restoration efforts. Must have a satisfactory work record including good attendance.
