MGH Biostatistics is hiring a Biostatistician II to conduct research on discovery and validation of biomarkers for the early detection of cancer, development of longitudinal biomarker algorithms for early detection, and design and analyses of retrospective and prospective studies to assess the impact of biomarkers and algorithms on early detection. This research is part of the National Cancer Institute's Early Detection Research Network (EDRN).
Summary Responsible for collecting data from medical research and analyzing it to draw conclusions or make predictions. Also responsible for developing and executing research studies in collaboration with other statisticians and scientists, monitoring clinical trials to ensure the integrity of the results. Does this position require Patient Care? No Essential Functions -Develop statistical analysis plans for clinical trials, observational studies, and other biomedical research projects. -Conduct statistical analyses of data from all types of studies, including those with complex designs or requiring sophisticated statistical techniques; begin to oversee biostatisticians and/or statistical programmers. -Generate reports of study progress, including reports for data and safety monitoring boards, and assist in the design of these reports. -Develop programs and guide efforts to perform robust data manipulation and error detection to ensure data integrity. -Provide statistical guidance for grants and other funding proposals. -Assist in hiring, onboarding, training, and mentoring statistical programmers and biostatisticians. Specific duties of the Senior Biostatistician (Biostatistician II) include collaborating with clinical investigators under the guidance of PhD biostatisticians to: Optimizing biomarker discovery pipelines Building longitudinal algorithms for earlier detection - each subject serving as their own control Optimally combining information across biomarkers and across time Designing biomarker validation studies Performing inference for early detection clinical trials and observational studies Developing advanced graphics to support new statistical methods for grant proposals and publications Generating reports on study progress Supervising junior biostatisticians performing data validation during studies Providing training and mentorship for junior biostatisticians Take on departmental administrative or leadership responsibilities Assist in hiring, onboarding, training, and mentoring statistical programmers and biostatisticians Engage in professional development opportunities Education The General Hospital Corporation is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
