DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will help maintain and improve forest roads, trails, buildings, and facilities throughout the district. You'll use a variety of tools and equipment to support daily operations and assist with forest protection activities.
- Trail & Road Work: Maintains and repairs forest roads, bridges, culverts, trails, and boundary lines, including clearing vegetation and installing signs or gates.
- Facility Upkeep: Assists with cleaning, mowing, painting, garbage collection, snow removal, and general repairs at district buildings and comfort stations.
- Equipment Care: Performs routine maintenance on tools, vehicles, and power equipment, and keeps written records of equipment use and repairs.
- Fire Support: Helps with wildfire suppression and prescribed burns using hand tools, pumps, and other equipment, and attends required fire-related training.
- Fence Maintenance: Inspects, clears, and repairs deer exclosure fences and related equipment to keep them functioning properly.
- Emergency Assistance: Supports search and rescue efforts, applies herbicides under supervision, posts signage, and follows all safety rules and training requirements.

- This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2027.
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Wednesday and Thursday 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with a 30-minute lunch. Friday off.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
