Symetra is seeking a Director of Marketing Operations to help marketing operate more clearly, efficiently, and predictably at scale. This role plays a critical part in how strategy becomes execution-bringing structure to complex work, improving delivery, and helping teams adapt and perform in a constantly changing environment.

About the role

As Director of Marketing Operations, you'll define and lead how marketing work gets planned and delivered across the enterprise. You'll partner closely with senior leaders to translate priorities into action, guide tradeoffs, and strengthen execution across highly crossfunctional teams.

This role is ideal for a leader who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys building clarity where none exists, and knows how to drive meaningful change without overengineering process.

What you will do



  • Lead the Marketing Operating Model

    • Define and evolve how marketing work is planned, prioritized, and executed at scale
    • Partner with senior leaders to translate strategy into delivery, including sequencing, capacity planning, and prioritization
    • Establish scalable planning and intake frameworks that bring clarity to complex work


  • Enable Strong Execution & Delivery

    • Improve visibility, alignment, and predictability across crossfunctional initiatives
    • Identify risks and dependencies early, helping leaders make informed tradeoffs
    • Reduce rework and friction through better planning and execution discipline


  • Build and Lead the Marketing Operations Function

    • Lead and develop a team of marketing operations and program management professionals
    • Set clear expectations and standards while allowing flexibility for different teams and needs
    • Foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement


  • Drive Innovation & Responsible AI Adoption

    • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation, AI, and modern ways of working
    • Partner with marketing, analytics, and technology teams to deliver practical, highimpact solutions
    • Ensure innovation is aligned to business needs and implemented responsibly


  • Manage Vendors & Partners

    • Oversee key marketing vendors and partners, ensuring quality, performance, and cost effectiveness
    • Partner with Procurement and Finance on budgeting, forecasting, and contracts

Compensation

Salary Range: $141,600 - $236,000 plus eligibility for annual bonus program

Who You Are



  • 12-15+ years of experience in marketing operations, program management, or related leadership roles
  • Proven ability to design and evolve operating models that support scale and change
  • Comfortable leading through ambiguity and influencing senior stakeholders
  • Strong judgment around prioritization, sequencing, and tradeoffs
  • Experienced people leader who builds trust and develops talent
  • Able to simplify complex ideas and communicate clearly at all levels
  • Familiar with modern marketing workflows, digital practices, and martech ecosystems
  • Experience with AI, automation, or operational innovation is a plus
  • High school diploma required; college degree preferred.


Travel:

Required Training & Professional Development
All newly hired people leaders with direct reportsare required tocomplete a comprehensive leadership development program within their first year. This program includes both virtual and in-person training. The in-person sessions will take place at Symetra's corporate headquarters in Bellevue, Washington.Symetra covers all travel and accommodation expenses.
