Position Overview
| Essential Job Duties |
The Department of Food, Bioprocessing & Nutrition Sciences at NC State University is a team of scientists, researchers, and teachers committed to guiding the undergraduate and graduate education of students preparing for professional and technical careers in Food, Bioprocessing, and Nutrition Sciences. The department has established researchers and world-class labs to carry out innovative research in related disciplines.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Postdoctoral Researcher will work with Dr. MaryAnne Drake's research program on the NCSU Raleigh campus.
- The Postdoctoral Researcher will focus on flavor chemistry and flavor/protein binding in dairy foods and beverages.
- The postdoc will also carry out other sensory and flavor chemistry science-related work in the areas of dairy processing, nonvolatile compound analysis, consumer insights, and contract flavor work under the guidance of Dr. Drake.
- The candidate is expected to conduct research projects, prepare manuscripts and presentations, prepare contract reports, manage research data in written and digital formats, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, participate in collaborative research and extension activities, and assist in grant writing.

Requirements and Preferences
| Work Schedule |
M-F, 8am - 5pm with some weekends as needed |
| Department Required Skills |
- Ph.D. in Food Science or Food Chemistry or related field
- Must have had significant working experiences with GCMS, volatile flavor compound extraction techniques (SPME, SAFE), descriptive sensory analysis and GC sniffing

| Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education |
- The ideal candidate has experience in conducting interdisciplinary research with a proven track record of peer-reviewed publications.
- Will provide support to peers, collaborative partners, and students.
- Strong oral and written communication skills are desired.
- Experience with GCMS and related equipment, troubleshooting, and maintenance is preferred
