Summary of Position

The Executive Director, Business Engineering sits alongside Global & Regional business operations, GDS technology (e.g. Amadeus, Sabre, Travelport) and the Global & Regional Technology and operationalTeams.The role focuses on translating commercial and operational requirements into scalable GDS configurations and solutions.Initially this role will collaborate with key stakeholders in leading the GDS transformation team for the implementation of a Primary GDS Partner within each Region of CTM.

The Executive Director, Business Engineering will manage the implementation of strategic initiatives and leading innovation to solve business problems by designing and improving processes, systems, and technology. This role is responsible for creating and implementing tech solutions, analyzing data to find trends, and collaborating with various teams such as product, operations, technology, sales, and strategic business owners to align with business goals. Developing and ensuring operational efficiency, while looking for cost reductions across the business.

Responsibilities and Duties

    CreateBusiness TransformationStatement of Requirements at a Global level, followed by Regional, Business Unit, Country uniqueGDS, Project and operationalrequirements. Business-to-Technology Translation
  • Converts business requirements (commercial deals, workflows, reporting needs) into GDS configurations.
  • Acts as the bridge between product, operations, IT, and the GDS provider/s to make sure the GDS/s is set up to support how the business wants to sell, service, and growby understanding CTM operational needs and translating them into actionable solutions.
  • Analyses and solves business problems by designing and improving processes, systems, and technology.
  • Cross functional collaboration, bridging the gap between business and technical teams. Supporting performance improvements without increase overheads (staff)
  • Quality assurance, ensuring system and process performance meets and exceeds business KPIs.
  • Continuous improvement by identify opportunities to optimise processes and enhance efficiency.
  • UnderstandingofCTM'sonline and offlineoperational needs and translating them into actionable solutionsto be implemented.
  • Through extensive time and motion studies, collecting, processing and modelling data to obtain valuable insights.
  • System design: Implementing, innovating and building systems / dashboards to support business operations
  • Leveragedata analytics to inform strategic decision making.
  • Cross functional collaborationbridging the gap between business and technical teams.
  • Supporting performance improvements without increase overheads (staff)
  • Evaluatethe financial feasibility of business initiatives. Supporting MBO and payment standards globally.
  • Quality assuranceto ensuresystem and process performance meets and exceeds business KPIs.
  • Ensure continuous improvementto CTM systemsto optimise processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Convey complex technical information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences with CTM. Provide detailed documentation and reporting to ensure that knowledge is shared and systems are well-maintained to achieve company goals. Provide updates on projected goals, requirements, and progress to ensure key stakeholders are aligned on outcomes, timelines and Steering Committee expectations.
  • Assess operational conditions, recognising issues and areas for improvement and providing solutions for the business. Problem solving analytical skills to ensure swift detection of issues and the ability to deal with performance challenges in everyday work.
  • Business transformation and change management: Gap analysis of business processes and mapping of solutions to automate tasks. Ensure training and skills are in place to harness maximum benefits to the business.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Engineering or related field or relevant experience
  • 10 years of GDS and GDS related products & platform experience
  • Performed in Travel related business consulting roles, providing solutions to large Global complex TMC's


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • List key knowledge, skills and abilities important for the role
  • Communication skills at board or executive levels
  • Data Driven Methodology, experience Six Sigma or equivalent
  • In-depth knowledge of GDS platforms, including fares, robotics, AI
  • Mid Back-office (MBO) and payments knowledge.
