Assists qualified physicians, who have valid Fluoroscopy Certification in fluoroscopic Interventional Cardiac Catheterization & Electrophysiology procedures.

Determines exposure factors based on height, weight, portion of body involved, and degree of penetration required.

Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control.

5%

Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and makes minor repairs on radiologic equipment, arranging for repairs as needed with CVT IV and Biomedical Engineering.

Completes and maintains records, logs, and reports of work performed.

5%

Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff.

5%

Assists with orientation of new hires and students as needed.

5%

Educates staff, fellows, and physicians regarding radiation safety, ALARA, and updates to include safety instruction quarterly at staff meetings and poster boards.

Adheres to policies and procedures for the technical and clinical operation of the department. Observes radiation safety regulations. Manages the Quality Indicators for Radiation Safety badges.

Performs EKG tests according to department policy and procedure. Prepares patients for procedures by performing shave/prep specific for procedures in EP/Cath/Vascular procedures.

Correctly places electrodes, mapping patches, and patient monitoring equipment on patient for monitoring during EP/Cath/Vascular procedures. Correctly pads and positions patient.

Maintains current knowledge of Medical Center Code Blue procedures.

Demonstrates professionalism and the ability to interact appropriately with patients and staff.

Correctly turns on and shuts down all equipment in rooms.

Appropriately cares for patients undergoing interventional cardiology procedures. Appropriately prepares patients for transport to PACU following policy and procedure for patients undergoing cardiac procedures.

Maintains knowledge of and adheres to all applicable Medical Center and unit specific infection control policies.

Participates in the collection and reporting of Quality Improvement data. Assist in research projects as appropriate.

Takes call in accordance with current departmental policy once completing probationary period.

Consults with the departmental staff to ensure patient care issues and procedural requirements are met on a daily basis.

Collaborates with Central Sterile Processing, Material Services, Imaging, Adult Echo Lab, Anesthesia Services, and other ancillary departments in daily outpatient/inpatient procedural care issues.

Collaborates with the Clinical Engineering staff on clinical information system maintenance and service, cabling and connectivity issues. .

Collaborates with Hospital IT Department or Department Programmer Analyst regarding Lab IT issues.

Collaborates with the Health System Radiation Safety resources to ensure a safe environment.
