Working under the direction of the Adult Cardiac Catheterization & Electrophysiology Unit Director, the technologist functions as an integral member of the procedural team, supporting pre-, intra-, and post-procedural care for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, structural heart, and vascular procedures. Responsibilities include operating radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment; producing and submitting high-quality images to PACS; documenting procedures in the GE Mac-Lab/CardioLab systems; and troubleshooting imaging equipment as needed. The technologist may function in both scrub and circulating roles, assist physicians during procedures, support patient education within scope of practice, and coordinate closely with anesthesia and other patient care departments within the Cath/EP environment. Additional responsibilities include radiation safety oversight in collaboration with the UCSF Radiation Safety Officer, participation in performance improvement initiatives, adherence to infection control and radiation safety policies, equipment troubleshooting in partnership with Biomedical Engineering, and inventory management in coordination with Materials Management. The technologist is also expected to support the orientation and training of students and new staff and to maintain required continuing education credits in accordance with Medical Center and departmental policies
