Senior Data Engineer (SQL / ETL / PostgreSQL)

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Senior Data Engineer (SQL/ETL/PostgreSQL) for a 12+ month contract position with a Governmental Financial Institution located in Kansas City, MO. This position is on-site 5 days per month.

Pay range: $75- $85 per hour W2 (W2 only)

Description:
This role supports a specialized data engineering team within the client's research technology group, managing a 300TB+ PostgreSQL-based data warehouse used by economists, researchers, and regulatory teams across the client's system.

You will be responsible for maintaining and loading critical large-scale datasets (mortgage, financial, market, and risk data), ensuring accuracy, integrity, and availability for over 800 users.

This is a hands-on, SQL-heavy data engineering role focused on data ingestion, transformation, and validation-not machine learning or BI/reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Own and manage 3-5 large datasets, including ongoing updates and full reloads
• Write and optimize complex SQL (PostgreSQL) for data ingestion and transformation
• Build and maintain ETL/ELT processes using SQL and bash scripting in Linux environments
• Perform data validation, integrity checks, and troubleshooting for evolving datasets
• Work with external data providers and internal research teams to support changing data structures
• Collaborate with engineering teams on future migration to a Databricks cloud platform

Required Qualifications

• United States citizenship or lawful permanent resident alien status with at least three (3) or more years of United States residency is required
• Strong hands-on SQL experience (PostgreSQL preferred)
• Experience with ETL/ELT and large-scale data loading processes
• Experience working in Linux environments (bash scripting required)
• Experience with Git / GitLab (version control and pipelines)
• Experience working with large, complex datasets and data validation

Nice to Have

• Python scripting
• Experience with MPP data warehouses (Greenplum a plus)
• Exposure to Databricks or cloud-based data platforms
