Description

PRN Hours- INTERN Position- 12 weeks in duration Day Shift (time will be split between both hospital and retail Pharmacy setting)

Pay: $25.00

Qualifications:



  • Required enrollment in an accredited Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program
  • Active Minnesota Pharmacist Intern license (or eligibility to obtain prior to start)
  • Prior experience in retail or hospital pharmacy settings
  • Basic knowledge of pharmacy operations and medication terminology
  • Familiarity with pharmacy management systems and electronic health records
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills


Job Responsibilities:



  • Dispensing & Retail Pharmacy Support
  • Assist in prescription processing, including data entry, labeling, and preparation of medications
  • Support inventory management, including ordering, stocking, and expiration date monitoring
  • Provide customer service, including handling inquiries and facilitating prescription pick-up
  • Operate pharmacy systems for adjudication and billing under pharmacist supervision
  • Hospital / Clinical Pharmacy Support
  • Assist pharmacists with medication preparation and distribution within hospital settings
  • Support medication reconciliation and patient profile review processes
  • Participate in sterile and non-sterile compounding as permitted by training and regulation
  • Deliver medications to patient care areas and support automated dispensing systems


Compliance & Safety:



  • Maintain compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, including HIPAA and medication handling standards
  • Follow all policies related to controlled substances and medication security
  • Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping
  • Operational Support
  • Assist with workflow improvements and process efficiency initiatives
  • Support pharmacy staff with administrative and clerical tasks as needed
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions

Working Conditions:



  • Combination of retail pharmacy and hospital pharmacy environments
  • Prolonged standing, walking, and occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs)
  • Flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends as needed
  • Learning Objectives (3-Month Term)
  • Develop competency in medication dispensing and verification workflows
  • Gain exposure to inpatient pharmacy operations and clinical support functions
  • Understand regulatory and compliance requirements in multiple pharmacy settings
  • Enhance patient communication and interprofessional collaboration skills
