How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

The Master Planner at TCI supports operational continuity and customer delivery by executing production and material planning processes, translating demand into actionable schedules, and collaborating with procurement, engineering, and operations. This role requires a hands-on planner who can execute within and continuously improve the MRP system and data structures that drive planning outcomes.

This role directly impacts:

  • On-time delivery to customers
  • Inventory optimization and working capital efficiency
  • Production stability and capacity utilization
  • Cross-functional visibility into shortages and risks

The Master Planner will act as the central point of coordination for material planning, supporting resolution of risks, shortages, and ensuring the organization is positioned to meet both short-term and long-term demand.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  • Execute the master production and material planning process for TCI
  • Develop and maintain accurate supply and demand plans based on forecasts, orders, and inventory levels
  • Run and manage weekly shortage reports; identify gaps and support resolution with purchasing and sourcing teams
  • Coordinate closely with procurement to ensure timely material availability and expedite critical components
  • Collaborate with engineering on BOM accuracy, revisions, and new product introductions
  • Align with operations on production schedules, capacity constraints, and priorities
  • Monitor key planning metrics (OTD, inventory levels, lead times, shortages) and drive continuous improvement
  • Identify planning system gaps and support system improvements in reporting, automation, and system capabilities
  • Collaborate with teams to communicate planning status and potential issues
  • Support the configuration and maintenance of MRP and planning systems, ensuring data accuracy and reliable outputs
  • Maintain and improve planning data accuracy (BOMs, lead times, order policies, demand signals) as a foundation for system performance
  • Support S&OP / demand planning processes as needed

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain, planning, or operations in a manufacturing environment, preferably high-mix, low-volume and/or project-based
  • Proven experience in production planning, material planning, or master scheduling
  • Experience working cross-functionally with procurement, engineering, and operations
  • Hands-on experience configuring and optimizing MRP/ERP systems (planning parameters, item attributes, lead times, lot sizing, etc.) to support accurate planning
  • Experience participating in UAT and system rollout to validate MRP outputs and ensure planning processes align with operational requirements

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of BOM structures and engineering change processes
  • Understanding of supplier lead times and procurement processes
  • Familiarity with manufacturing operations and production workflows
  • Working knowledge of Oracle ERP planning and reporting functionality
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Advanced Excel skills (data analysis, reporting)
  • Proficiency in planning, reporting, and data analysis using Oracle EBS 11i with working knowledge of Oracle Fusion

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field (preferred)
  • APICS / CPIM certification is a plus
  • Travel & Working Environment
  • Primarily office-based with regular interaction on the production floor
  • Fast-paced, cross-functional environment requiring frequent collaboration
  • High visibility role with direct impact on operational performance and customer satisfaction

The compensation information that follows is a reasonable estimate for the position and is provided pursuant to legal requirements in this state. The salary estimate provided represents the typical salary range for the position, and other factors may be used to determine the successful candidate's actual salary, including: skill set, experience, training, education, organizational needs, internal equity, market data, and geographic zone. The estimated salary range for this position is: $92,800 - $117,000. At SPX, it is not common for individuals to be hired at the higher end of the range, and compensation decisions depend on a variety of factors. This role is eligible to participate in a discretionary bonus plan, subject to the rules governing the plan. SPX offers a variety of benefits, including health benefits, 401k retirement with a company match, and flexible time off.
