Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) is seeking a University Registrar.
The University Registrar is a senior academic leader responsible for the strategic oversight, management, and integrity of all student academic records and registration processes at
WSSU. The Office of the Registrar is a resource to assist all current and former
WSSU students. Our mission is to provide academic support services to the
WSSU community with accuracy and integrity.
Responsibilities of the Registrar include:
Strategic Leadership & Administration
- Provide vision, direction, and leadership for the Registrar's Office, aligning operations with the university's strategic goals.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a professional team to achieve operational excellence and high-quality service delivery.
- Establish, implement, and monitor policies, procedures, and performance metrics that ensure accuracy, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Academic Records & Registration Governance
- Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and security of all official student academic records, transcripts, and grade reporting.
- Provide authoritative guidance on registration policies, academic regulations, and institutional compliance.
- Maintain and report enrollment data, institutional statistics, and other critical metrics to senior leadership, accrediting bodies, and regulatory agencies.
Systems & Operational Excellence
- Direct the implementation and optimization of student information systems (e.g., Banner) and other technologies to streamline operations, enhance reporting, and improve the student experience.
- Lead initiatives to modernize workflows, increase operational efficiency, and integrate best practices in academic record management.
- Ensure staff are trained and proficient in all technologies and processes critical to office operations.
Institutional Collaboration & Advocacy
- Serve as a key liaison with academic departments, faculty, administration, and external agencies on matters related to records, registration, and compliance.
- Represent the Registrar's Office on university-wide committees and initiatives, influencing policy and academic operations.
- Communicate complex policy changes, procedural updates, and strategic initiatives to stakeholders clearly and effectively.

- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of FERPA regulations, academic policies, and records management practices.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
