Position Overview


Primary Purpose of the Position
Adjunct faculty are integral to the Master of Business Administration ( MBA) program. They provide an opportunity to hire experienced business professionals who bring their practical experiences into the classrooms. They focus mainly on excellence in instruction and practical applications. They offer a cutting-edge curriculum that helps the program meet its mission, vision, and objectives. Adjunct faculty are critical to implementing the curriculum and developing students in meeting learning outcomes.


Adjunct instructors are hired to teach specific courses for the College of Business & Entrepreneurship, specifically, the Department of Accounting, Economics, and Finance. The primary function is to deliver course content, assess student performance, and support learning outcomes.

  • A doctoral degree in the relevant, or similar, field is generally required
  • A professional certification or significant current experience may be acceptable in some cases


Normal Work Schedule

  • Online classes - weekdays and evenings
  • Office hours on Zoom (2 hours a week)

  • Must have a doctorate degree
  • A minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in one of the follow: Accounting, Economics, Finance and/or other related courses
  • Successful candidates must adhere to the mission of the University and College
  • Must have strong communication and instructional skills
  • Must be able to deliver course content aligned with institutional standards
  • Must be able to effectively teach assigned classes, grade assignments, provide timely student feedback, and post grades adhering to university deadlines and policies
  • The ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and diverse populations


Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

  • Recent college-level teaching experience
  • Practical experience in a business setting
  • Demonstrated classroom management skills and effective interactions with students, faculty, staff, and administration

Describe the specific job duties related to this competency

  • Adjunct faculty will teach assigned classes, maintain office hours (a way for students to contact and receive guidance from the faculty member), grade assignments, provide feedback to students, and post grades while adhering to relevant university policies
  • Adequately prepare all course materials and lessons
  • Provide each student with clear course expectations, evaluations, timelines, and an approved syllabus
  • Provide engaging and relevant assignments for students that demonstrate learning outcomes
  • Suitably challenge, engage, serve, and communicate with students to encourage their participation and learning while maintaining mutual value and respect
  • Complete grade books, mid-term and final grade submission, learning assessments and final exam assessments on a timely basis
  • Respond to student questions on a timely basis
  • Ensure course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the syllabus
