Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Seasonal Agricultural Worker - Salem County for the Department of Agriculture & Natural Resource within the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Assists extension agents in establishing, maintaining, and monitoring corn and soybean research plots focused on nitrogen and sulfur fertilizer rate trials.
- Helps prepare field plots, collect data on crop establishment and plant growth metrics, assist with soil and plant tissue sampling, and accurately record research observations.
- Assists with agronomic field research focused on nitrogen and sulfur fertilizer rate trials in corn and soybean systems.
- Performs field plot work, soil and plant tissue sampling, data collection, and basic research support tasks.
- Assists with applying crop inputs and fertilizers in field research plots under supervision, organizing and labeling research samples, and supporting plot harvest and yield data collection.
- Helps develop basic plant profiles for crops included in the trials, organize field research materials, and assist with preparation for field days and educational tours for farmers and stakeholders.

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- High school/vocational school education or equivalent experience.

- A valid driver's license would be required for this position.

| Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to accurately record research data and properly handling research samples.
- Ability to follow directions carefully and communicate clearly when clarification is needed.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Interest in gaining practical experience in agronomic field research and in pursuing careers or further education in agronomy, crop science, soil fertility, or agriculture.
- Agriculture operator experience and/or experience in the field of agriculture or related.
- Ability to use Microsoft programs, such as Power Point, Word, and Excel.
