The Senior Manager, Supply Planning & Inventory Control is responsible for leading all inventory control activities across New Era, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of inventory processes and procedures, including physical inventory execution. This role oversees the development, standardization, and enforcement of inventory control policies to maintain optimal stock levels, minimize discrepancies, and support financial accuracy.

In addition, this position is accountable for end-to-end production planning for cap machine operations, including internal scheduling and subcontracted production activities. The role ensures alignment between demand forecasts, production capacity, and supply plans to deliver high service levels while optimizing efficiency and cost.

Responsibilities

Inventory Control & Compliance

  • Lead all inventory control functions across the organization, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures
  • Oversee and manage physical inventory processes, including cycle counts and full physical inventories
  • Ensure inventory accuracy across all locations, investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
    • Working cross functionally with Production, Logistics Integration, Distribution/Logistics and Customer relations for wholesale and ECOM/Retail inventory
  • Develop, standardize, and continuously improve inventory control procedures and internal controls
  • Partner with Finance to ensure inventory valuation accuracy and audit readiness

Supply & Production Planning

  • Own production planning for cap machine scheduling and capacity planning
  • Manage subcontracting production planning to ensure alignment with demand and service requirements
    • Build strong relationships with subcontractors
  • Balance supply and demand constraints to optimize production efficiency and customer service levels
  • Collaborate with LMT, Customer Relations, Sales and Operations to develop feasible and optimized supply plans
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support new product introductions and lifecycle transitions
  • Lead Hot Market Cap Machine activities including:
    • Manage Cap Machine Calendar to outline upcoming activities
    • Obtain forecasts and develop capacity plan with Miami and Subcontractors
    • Ensure Blank Caps are positioned to meet plans, includes creating STOs and working with our DC to ensure timely arrival
    • Obtain blank cap and apparel forecasts for procurement of inventory needed to support demand
    • Develop daily execution plans and communicate with all internal parties

Performance Management & Reporting

  • Establish and monitor KPIs such as inventory accuracy, service levels, inventory turns, and obsolescence
  • Deliver regular reporting and insights to senior leadership on inventory health and supply performance
  • Identify risks and opportunities, driving proactive solutions

Process Improvement & Systems

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across supply planning and inventory control processes using SAP SME
  • Implement best practices and leverage technology to enhance visibility, accuracy, and efficiency
  • Support ERP and planning system enhancements related to inventory and production planning
  • Work closely with our 3PL, manufacturing facilities and subcontractors to outline processes around inventory control activities and manufacturing

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team across supply planning and inventory control functions
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Establish clear goals, performance expectations, and development plans for team members
  • Keep all sensitive matters confidential
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong expertise in inventory control, physical inventory processes, and production planning
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, including capacity and subcontracting models
  • Experience with ERP and planning systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Kinaxis)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership abilities
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field
  • Seven (7) to Ten (10) years of experience in supply planning, inventory control, or supply chain operations preferred; additional experience in lieu of degree considered
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years of leadership experience

Travel Requirement

  • The location for this position is 100% on-site in Buffalo, NY
  • 0% to 5%; domestic and/or global

The salary range for this posted position is $105,000 - $125,000 (plus bonus & benefits) and pertains to candidates located in Western New York. Actual compensation will fall within this range and is determined by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, education, essential job duties and requirements, and necessary experience.
