What to Expect
The TPT Engineering team is responsible for design-to-production of custom service and commissioning tooling/sustaining solutions to assist in the rapid development and maintenance of Tesla's Energy storage and charging solutions. This skilled and motivated individual will keep pushing the evolving energy industry forward by designing and deploying automation systems that eliminate manual workflows, building intelligent interfaces for technician decision support, and developing automated trend detection and data validation systems that scale across global operations.

What You'll Do
  • Automation Systems Ownership: You will own end-to-end automation initiatives that remove human-in-the-loop processes for data auditing pipelines, technician question flow interfaces, and automated trend creation systems. Define technical requirements, integration architectures, and deployment strategies for systems processing thousands of daily interactions
  • Intelligent Interface Design: Specify and drive development of technician-facing systems that guide decision-making through logic-driven workflows. Design adaptive question sets, validation rules, and feedback mechanisms that improve data quality at the point of capture while reducing cognitive load on field personnel
  • Automated Analytics & Quality Systems: Build self-service analytical dashboards and automated QC pipelines that surface anomalies, trends, and actionable insights without manual intervention. Define KPIs, alert thresholds, and validation rules that enable data-driven operations at scale
  • System Integration & Tooling: Drive specifications for software and hardware tooling based on real-world usage data from thousands of users. Conduct cost analysis, case studies, and engineering-driven root cause analysis to prioritize feature development and system enhancements across existing service ecosystems
  • Business Impact Quantification: Develop compelling business cases for automation technologies and operational strategies. Translate each initiative into measurable $/kWh impact for the service engineering organization, demonstrating clear ROI through data-backed projections
  • Cross-Functional Execution: Drive technical programs from concept through field validation, managing dependencies across engineering, operations, and IT teams
  • Proactively identify and resolve integration challenges, ensuring seamless handoffs and deployment success

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years experience building or specifying technical solutions that improve operational efficiency or data quality
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python for data analysis, pipeline development, and automation scripting. Experience with dashboard/visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, Grafana) preferred
  • Experience designing workflows, validation logic, or decision-support systems-ideally in energy systems, field service operations, or industrial environments
  • Ability to translate operational problems into technical requirements and system specifications
  • Strong analytical skills with experience conducting cost-benefit analysis and building business cases with measurable ROI
  • Track record driving cross-functional technical projects from concept to deployment, with familiarity in API integration, data pipelines, or ETL frameworks preferred
