Clariant is actively and urgently seeking Electrical & Instrumentation Technicians and Reliability Technicians to join our maintenance team at the PPCAT Plant in Louisville, KY. We are hiring for multiple positions with different focus areas, some focused on E&I work and others on reliability/continuous improvement. We welcome qualified technicians with electrical, instrumentation, and/or reliability experience who are ready to contribute immediately by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment in a manufacturing environment. These roles support critical plant operations and offer opportunities to further develop technical skills across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems while contributing to continuous improvement and reliability initiatives in a fast-paced setting.
The position follows a Monday-Friday 6am-2:30pm schedule (schedule subject to change). Clariant offers competitive hourly pay of $48.08/hr, 5% quarterly bonus, paid time off, and a $2,000 sign-on bonus after four months. Responsibilities Core responsibilities for all positions:
- Oversee maintenance team day-to-day activities when the maintenance lead is unavailable, including on-call duties.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on production equipment.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to maximize equipment reliability and uptime.
- Comply with all local regulations and Clariant safety, environmental, and operational policies; participate in risk assessments and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with production operators and attend daily performance meetings to support operational goals.
- Complete SAMACO work orders, including PSM and LDAR activities; document all work in CMMS.
- Maintain required job qualifications, certifications, and safety training.
Additional responsibilities for E&I-focused roles:
- Plan, perform, and oversee electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs of systems including wiring, panels, circuits, motors, and equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to execute electrical installations and system upgrades, including transitioning obsolete drives and devices.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems, instrumentation, and control devices, including Siemens PLC systems; collaborate with automation and digitalization leader to resolve control and communication errors.
- Proficient troubleshooting on 4-20mA field devices.
Additional responsibilities for Reliability-focused roles:
- Monitor performance KPIs and identify opportunities to optimize equipment availability and reduce downtime.
- Participate in and lead failure mode effects analysis (FMEA) and root cause analysis (RCA).
- Apply Lean-Sigma methods (DMAIC) to drive continuous improvement and cost reduction.
- Create, maintain, and update technical plant documentation and standard operating procedures; adhere to Management of Change (MOC) processes.
- Inspect completed maintenance work to ensure quality standards are met.
- Support training of operational personnel in technical and reliability matters.
Requirements
- 6+ years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience, with electrical and mechanical exposure; chemical or food manufacturing experience preferred and/or with reliability methodologies such as root cause analysis, FMEA, or continuous improvement initiatives preferred
- GED or High School diploma required
- Proficient troubleshooting background on 4-20mA field devices
- Demonstrated leadership experience
- Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) experience along with EXCEL and Microsoft Office
