The Surgical Scheduler Gynecologic Oncology ensures the efficient and safe day-to-day operation of the clinic. He/She is responsible for performing administrative support functions, managing the reception desk, and supporting members of the Sibley Physicians Group (SPG). The Surgical Scheduler Gynecologic Oncology ensures the patients have good experience by presenting a competent image and carrying out the department's commitment to excellence in customer service.

Education:



  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • One year's experience with medical records and accurate typing or any equivalent combination of education and experience to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.



Specific duties and responsibilities:



  • Sending surgical postings to the Operating Room for addition to the Operating Room schedule, as well as communicating with providers about openings and unavailable times, or about other issues with the surgical orders
  • Contacting patients regarding surgical instructions, dates and times
  • Communicating with surgeons about Operating Room block release times
  • Communicating with admin staff about scheduling pre-operative and post-operative visits
  • Communicating with RNs about patient requests for medication review or bowel prep before surgery
  • Maintaining surgeon's Microsoft Outlook calendars with surgical procedures
  • Following up with patients and doctor's offices about medical clearance, lab work, et cetera needed for surgery
  • Communicating with Finance about prior authorizations that need to be done urgently or re-done
  • Other administrative/clerical duties such as processing faxes, printing doctors' charts, answering Mychart messages related to surgical scheduling, et ceter



Preferred Experience:



  • At least 1 year of experience with Operating Room scheduling preferred
  • GYN / Women's health experience preferred

Salary Range: Minimum 22.75/hour - Maximum 37.53/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
