Job Summary :
Under the direction of the Division Manager, the Financial Services Analyst 3 provides professional financial and operational support to the Division of Prevention Science, a moderately sized research-focused division. The Analyst plays a key role in supporting the division's research, administrative, and operational activities, applying campus policies, financial principles, and best practices to resolve a wide range of moderately complex issues requiring sound judgment, strong analytical skills, and a high degree of independence. Responsibilities include managing a variety of sponsored and divisional projects and supporting their post-award activities; resolving complex purchasing and reimbursement issues; and ensuring compliance with university policies and external sponsor requirements. The Analyst will also support administrative functions such as stipend/honoraria submission, petty cash and check handling, equipment inventory management, and special projects as assigned.

This position requires the ability to triage and prioritize in a fast-paced environment, work with minimal supervision, and remain current on policy changes, campus systems, and evolving administrative requirements. The Analyst must be highly organized, flexible, responsive, and able to interact effectively with faculty, research staff, vendors, and central campus offices including Contracts & Grants Accounting, Controllers Office, HR, Supply Chain Management, and IT.

Success in this role requires professionalism, proactive problem-solving, strong communication skills, and the ability to remain calm, resourceful, and efficient under pressure. The Analyst will also contribute to training and onboarding of divisional staff on financial systems and compliance requirements, and will play an important role in supporting the annual budget processes and ongoing operational improvements.


Required Qualifications :
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience / training.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial processes, policies and procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial data management and reporting systems.
  • Strong proficiency in the use of spreadsheet and database software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, analytical skills, service orientation, active listening, critical thinking, attention to detail, ability to multi-task in a high volume environment, organizational skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, sound judgment and decision making; ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.
  • Ability to function effectively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.

  • Leadership skills to provide guidance, coaching and mentoring to professional and support staff.
