Recruiter Ashley Bridier || 770-797-6067 Airgas, a leading supplier of industrial, medical, and specialty gases, and related products and services, is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Automation Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, service, and maintenance of CNC plasma and arc welding robotic systems, specifically those utilizing Hypertherm cutting systems and robotic arms from OTC and Yaskawa. This position requires a strong understanding of electrical/mechanical systems. In particular, you will:
  • System Integration: Install, configure, and program Controlled Automation CNC plasma cutting equipment and arc welding robotic systems (specifically OTC and Yaskawa).
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform expert-level preventative maintenance and diagnostic repairs on:
    • Electrical/Electronic: Sensors, motors, and high-performance drives.
    • Mechanical: Precision gears, bearings, and linkages.
    • Fluid Power: Complex pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
    • Cutting Tech: Hypertherm cutting systems and their integrated components.
  • Technical Support: Diagnose and resolve software and hardware malfunctions related to robotic controllers and plasma power sources.
Travel & Logistics This is a high-mobility role requiring a "road warrior" mentality to support our regional customer base.
  • Travel Requirements: Up to 75% travel is required, including overnight stays.
  • Company Support: To ensure your success, the company provides:
    • Company Vehicle (fully equipped for field service).
    • Technology Suite: Laptop and smartphone.
    • Per Diem: All meals and travel expenses are covered.
  • Training & Documentation: Provide comprehensive on-site operator training and generate detailed service reports to maintain accurate equipment histories.
  • Business Development:
    • Collaborate with Account Managers to identify and sell preventative maintenance contracts.
    • Develop accurate estimates, quotes, and formal proposals for service work.
    • Partner with the sales team to expand gas and welding supply footprints within existing accounts.

  • Technical Background: Proven experience with Controlled Automation CNC systems and robotic platforms (Yaskawa/OTC).
  • Technical Expertise: Strong proficiency in troubleshooting electromechanical systems and a deep understanding of Hypertherm plasma technology.
  • Welding Knowledge: A solid grasp of various welding processes is a significant plus.
  • Communication: Ability to explain complex technical issues to customers and work effectively with the internal sales force.
  • Safety: Absolute commitment to adhering to all OSHA and site-specific safety regulations.
Physical & Professional Demands
  • Ability to work in industrial environments (heat, noise, dust).
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development to stay current with evolving robotic and thermal cutting technologies.
