Therapist

This position is responsible for assessing for referral to short term individual, couple, and group therapy; conducting initial assessments, intakes, and crisis sessions, providing referrals and bridging care to the community as needed; consulting with students, faculty, and staff regarding mental health issues; and other tasks as requested by the Executive Director. Occasional after hours and weekend work may be required.

Two positions are currently available, including one 12-month position and one 9-month position with summers off.

Kansas State University Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), in support of the overall mission of the University, provides high-quality professional services to help all students meet their full potential - personally, academically, and socially. Within an accepting, sustaining, and compassionate setting, CAPS provides a professional resource to attend to our students' psychological needs by promoting well-being, alleviating concerns, facilitating problem resolution, and enhancing their success.

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Requires a master's degree in counseling, clinical psychology, social work or a related field, and one year of relevant experience.
• Must meet state licensure requirements to practice independently.

The degree requirement ensures candidates possess advanced clinical training and qualifications to provide professional care, meet legal standards and support the emotional well-being of campus populations. These competencies are typically developed and rigorously validated only through the comprehensive curriculum and intensive experiential learning inherent in a formal degree program.

Preferred Qualifications:

• One year post-graduate experience in the mental health field providing individual therapy.
• Experience in a university counseling center.
