The AI & Process Automation Summer Intern supports the Supply Chain organization by identifying, evaluating, and developing AI-driven and automation-enabled solutions to improve operational efficiency, visibility, and decision-making across supply chain processes. The role focuses on researching emerging AI capabilities and automation tools, developing proof-of-concept AI agents, and supporting digital transformation initiatives related to logistics, procurement, inventory, and project execution

The intern will partner with Supply Chain, Logistics, Digital, and Data Analytics teams to design and implement innovative solutions using AI platforms and workflow automation technologies. Typical projects may include developing AI agents to facilitate logistics status updates, automate project reporting, track logistics costs, reconcile transportation expenses against projects, and improve access to operational data and insights.

This role is ideal for a highly motivated and technically skilled student interested in artificial intelligence, automation, software development, and digital transformation within supply chain operations.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS

Depending on the period of the internship and business priorities, the primary job functions will include all or part of the following:

  • Research and evaluate AI capabilities, copilots, large language models (LLMs), and automation tools applicable to supply chain operations.

  • Develop AI agents and workflow automations to support logistics, procurement, inventory, and project management activities.

  • Design automation workflows to streamline reporting, status updates, data reconciliation, and operational tracking.

  • Build prototypes and proof-of-concept solutions using AI and automation platforms.

  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and IT stakeholders to identify opportunities for process optimization and digital innovation.

  • Support testing, troubleshooting, deployment, and documentation of automation and AI solutions.

  • Create user guides, process documentation, and demonstrations for developed tools and workflows.

  • Others tasks as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

AI & Automation Development

  • Understand complex requirements and develop AI-enabled tools and agents to support supply chain business processes.

  • Configure and test automation workflows using platforms such as Microsoft Power Automate, UiPath, or similar technologies.

  • Explore integration opportunities between AI tools and enterprise systems, databases, or reporting platforms.

  • Assist in developing dashboards, status reporting tools, and automated notifications for logistics and project tracking.

Digital Innovation & Process Improvement

  • Analyze current supply chain workflows and identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.

  • Support initiatives related to logistics visibility, project tracking, invoice reconciliation, and operational reporting.

  • Research emerging AI technologies and provide recommendations on potential business use cases.

  • Contribute ideas and innovative approaches to improve user experience and operational effectiveness.

Collaboration, Testing & Support

  • Work closely with Supply Chain, Digital, and IT teams to gather requirements and validate business needs.

  • Participate in solution testing, debugging, and continuous improvement activities.

  • Document technical processes, automation logic, and user instructions.

  • Present project updates, demonstrations, and recommendations to stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field.

  • Strong interest in artificial intelligence, automation, digital transformation, and supply chain operations.

  • Familiarity or hands-on experience with AI and automation platforms such as:

  • Microsoft Copilot

  • ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini

  • Microsoft Power Automate

  • UiPath

  • Other workflow automation or AI development tools

  • Basic understanding of software development concepts, APIs, scripting, or workflow logic is preferred.

  • Familiarity with SAP Materials Management module, a plus

  • Familiarity with logistics, procurement, or supply chain processes is a plus, but strong digital and technical skills are more important.

  • Fast learner with the ability to work independently and adapt quickly to new technologies.

  • Self-directed and proactive with strong initiative and problem-solving skills.

  • Analytical mindset with ability to interpret complex data and translate insights into actionable solutions.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
