About the Position

Are you ready to flex your design skills to promote data literacy and improve the health of the community within Maricopa County? As a Data Visualization Epidemiologist Associate, you will analyze data to produce accessible reports, dashboards, presentations, and more. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with teams across Public Health to help people access and understand health-related data.

This is a contract position with full benefits and an expected end date of November 30, 2027.

We Require

  • Master's degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, or a related public health field

  • An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/orjob-related experience may substitute for therequired education on a year-for-year basis

We Also Value

  • Experience using visualization and analytical software such as Power BI and ArcGIS

  • Experience using programming languages such as SQL, R, and SAS

  • Experience in informatics or graphic design

  • Experience implementing web accessibility solutions

Job Contributions

  • Supports the production of data visualization products using best practices, including tailoring communications to resonate with target audiences

  • Analyzes and interprets public health data

  • Works with internal partners to develop data visualization capacity

  • Conducts QA/QC on datasets and visual products

  • Documents protocols and practices for visualizing public health data

  • Other duties as assigned, including responding to public health emergencies

Working Conditions

  • Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions

  • Ability to exert up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time

  • Within one month of hire, all employees will be required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test
